Good posture is vital as it gives you good balance throughout the swing and sets up the plane on which the club will be swung. When standing upright widen your feet to shoulder width apart with the toes pointing slightly outwards with even weight distribution. Place a club across your waist so your thumbs rest on the front of your hips. Then push the club into your waist so you bend forward from the hips keeping the spine straight so you can feel that your body's weight has been brought forward onto the balls of the feet. The back of the knees will have now tightened, so to release this pressure, flex or soften the knees. Let your arms hang down infront of you and grip the club correctly so the hands hang about 2 inches infront of the shoulder line. The left hand is approximately 4/5 inches away from your left thigh. The elbows will be pressed comfortably towards each other and make a nice “v” shape infront of you.
Keep your head held clear of your chest and turn your head slightly to the right to encourage an easier and fuller shoulder turn.
